Announcements
The First Grade play in on Thursday, May 7, at 9:00.

AR goals must be met by Friday, May 8.

The Dinner Theater is on Friday, May 8.  Tickets are $15 and may be purchased in the office.

Elementary Field Day is Tuesday, May 12, from 1:00-3:00.

Elementary Honors Day is Wednesday, May 13, at 9:00.

The Class Party is Tuesday, May 19, from 12-2 at Xtreme Athletics.  If you have not returned your release form, please send it by Friday, May 1.  If you have not sent $10, please send it by Friday, May 1.  Thanks!

Wednesday, April 29 - Math Test 27
Thursday, April 30 - Practice Spelling Test
Friday, May 1 - Reading Selection Test
Friday, May 1 - Language Test (The test will cover adjectives and capitalization of abbreviations and proper nouns.)

Our Week
Please refer to the sheet attached to the Homework Calendar for concepts we will be working on in Reading, Language, and Spelling.
In Math, the new concepts are dividing by 4, carrying to the ten thousands place, and multiplying by 5.
In Science, we will be reading and discussing Chapter 11 "How Things Move."  There will be a vocabulary test on this chapter next Tuesday, and a chapter test on Chapter 11 on Thursday.  A study sheet for vocabulary went home yesterday, April 27, and a study sheet for the Chapter test will go home today, April 28.
In Social Studies we will begin reading and discussing about John F. Kennedy.

Liberty's Legacy Graduation Celebration

The Graduation Celebration for the Liberty's Legacy Program is tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. in the cafetorium.  Your child needs to wear the t-shirt that was sent home with them yesterday.

Friday, April 24 - Social Studies vocabulary test

 Your child has received multiplication tables for 0's, 1's, 2's, 3's, and 4's.  These facts need to be memorized.  Please work with your child on  memorizing these multiplication facts.  Thanks!

Please refer to the sheet attached to the Homework Calendar for the Reading, Language, and Spelling concepts to be discussed this week.

The new concepts in Math are rounding to the nearest ten and estimating sums.  Please also be working on the multiplication and division facts that I have been sending home with your child.

We will begin Chapter 11 in Science this week.

We will be finishing up with the Liberty's Legacy program this week.

May 7 - PTO "Cyber Bullying:  What Parents need to Know"

May 7 - First grade play @ 9:00 a.m.

May 8 - Dinner Theater @ 6:00 p.m.   Tickets are on sale in the office.  $15.00 each

May 12 - Field Day K5-6th grades  1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

May 13 - Elementary Honors Assembly K-5 @ 9:00 a.m.

May 14 - High School Honors Assembly 7-11 @ 9:00 a.m.

May 18 - AR Pool Party @ Rec Center from 9:00 - 12:00 for elementary students.  Students must have met their goal each of the nine weeks.

May 17 - Baccalaureate @ 2:00 p.m. FUMC

May 18 - Senior Scholarship day @ 9:00 a.m.

May 19 - Senior Class Day @ 9:00 a.m.

May 20 - K5 Graduation @ 9:00 a.m.

Good Morning!  Hope each of you had a good weekend.  Finally, we have a regular week of school!!!

Announcements
This is Clean and Green Week.  Second grade has been collecting aluminum cans.  I am sending home a green bag today for you to  put the cans you have collected in.  Please send them to school on Thursday, April 16.

The Pilot Club will be here Wednesday, April 15, to do a bicycle safety program with 2nd grade.

Our Week
Please refer to the sheet attached to the Homework Calendar for concepts we will be working on in Reading, Language, and Spelling this week.
In Math, the new concepts are the 16 addition family, 4 as a factor, and making change.  We will have Math Test 25 on Wednesday.
In Science we will be completing Chapter 10 and having a vocabulary test and a chapter test.
In Social Studies we will be finishing up the Liberty's Legacy program.  The graduation celebration is next Wednesday, April 22.

Wednesday Reminders

April 8, 2015

The fieldtrip to Atlanta is tomorrow.  Please be here by 5:30 a.m. or no later than 5:45 a.m..  The bus will be leaving at 6:00 a.m..  Students need to wear their fieldtrip t-shirt or a PLAS shirt.

Clean and Green Week is  April 13-17.  Second grade is collecting aluminum cans.  The cans will be picked up on Friday, April 17.  Please send any cans you have collected to school on Thursday, April 16.  Please send them in some type of container (bags or boxes).

The Dinner Theatre has been changed to May 8.  Tickets are $15 and may be purchased in the office.

Graded paper folders will not be sent home this week.  I will send them home next Friday, April 17.

April 6-10, 2015

Good Morning!  I hope each of you had a great Easter and long weekend.

Announcements
The Atlanta Field Trip is this Thursday, April 9.  Information was sent home last Thursday, April 2.  Please go over the expectations with your child.
School will be dismissed at 12:00 noon on Friday, April 10, due to the prom.

Tests
The Spelling Test will be on Wednesday, April 8.  The Spelling words were sent home last Thursday, April 2.  There are no sentences on the test this week.

Reading
The concepts we will be talking about in Reading, Language, and Spelling are on the sheet attached to the Homework Calendar.  We will not have a Reading Selection Test this week due to the short week and the field trip.

Math
We will be working on dividing by 3 and coins/bills in an amount in Math.  There will not be a Math test this week.

Science
We will continue working on Chapter 10 in Science.

Social Studies
The Liberty's Legacy topic for this week is America:  Then and Now.
